NOTE: 150 RIDER LIMIT! Because of limited parking at the starting point, entries will be limited to the first 150 riders!
The Blue Ridge 250 is a charity fundraising event to support FOCUS and provide an enjoyable motorcycle adventure for its participants. It is actually two events in one: a sport touring paved road ride and an adventure touring gravel forest road ride.
The sport touring paved road ride will provide a choice of two routes. The condensed route is approximately 200 miles, stays in north Georgia, traverses some roads that you may not have ridden before, and has its lunch stop at Two Wheels of Suches. The full route is approximately 250 miles, traverses up into North Carolina and has its lunch stop the Motor Company Grill in Franklin, NC. The full route has an optional shortcut to shorten the route to approximately 220 miles. These routes are some of the Southern Appalachian’s best twisty motorcycle roads.
The adventure touring (dual sport) gravel road route is approximately 140 miles. It’s about 1/3 twisty paved roads and 2/3 gravel or dirt Forest Service roads. The lunch stop is at Two Wheels of Suches.
At the morning rider’s meeting, we will hear about the wonderful things being done for the children of FOCUS. Door prizes will be awarded and top fundraisers will be recognized.
Lunch will be provided as part of the entry. Gathering at lunch will give us a chance to mingle with fellow riders.
Seldom will you have a chance to participate in a better organized event and ride some of the most spectacular roads in the area. Chances are many of them will be new and exciting places your motorcycle has never seen.
Each registered rider will receive an information packet with route directions. This will be a self-guided tour, but riders are encouraged to ride with a small group of other participants. No one will ride alone. Solo riders will be paired with a riding partner. This is not a timed event. The route may be completed on schedule without exceeding the posted speed limits.
In order to protect the value of the routes representing the effort by the organizers to benefit the charity, the route sheets will not be distributed electronically prior to check-in at the ride. Registered riders will receive a paper route sheet at check-in. The Sport Tour route sheet is 5″ x 8.5″, suitable for the map pocket of a tank bag. The Adventure Tour route sheet is available in both the 5″ x 8.5″ tank bag format or a 2″ wide roll chart. Roll chart holders will be for sale and zip lock bags and tape will be available for the tank bag format sheets if the rider doesn’t have a tank bag. We think reading and following the route sheet adds to the fun of the riding experience. GPX track files suitable for loading in a GPS will be distributed via email two days before the ride.
